Air Force massive drill kicks off in central Iran

TEHRAN, Oct. 31 (MNA) – Large-scale drill codenamed "Fada'eeyan-e Harim-e Velayat 7" and organized by Islamic Republic of Iran’s Air Force (IRIAF) has gone underway in the country's central province of Isfahan.

The drill is currently underway at Shahid Babaei airbase in Isfahan province, and will continue for two days.

According to the spokesman for the large-scale event General Massoud Rouzkhosh, dozens of various kinds of fighter-bombers, heavy and semi-heavy transport aircraft, tankers, interceptors, reconnaissance, aerial patrols, and drones are taking part in the event.

Also participating in the maneuverer are Sukhoi Su-24 supersonic attack aircraft, F4, F5, F7, MiG-29, F14, Boeing-707 and -747 tankers, as well as long-range precision-guided munition.

Activities related to passive defense including separation and dispersion, camouflage, concealment, deception and intra system actions will also be carried out during the two-day exercise.

General Rouzkhosh further added that the drill was also an opportunity to showcase the country’s systems and weapons domestically developed and upgraded at universities and industrial centers, the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Support. 

According to him, the main objective of the Fada'eeyan-e Harim-e Velayat 7 (Devotees of the Velayat Territory 7) drill is to destroy land and air targets.
